I have to wonder about my husband’s upbringing. He had a male dog as a child, but seems to know absolutely nothing about male dog anatomy. Thank goodness he is married to me, who has a BS in Natural Science and some anatomy & physiology courses in her past.

Last night he says, “Are you sure Laddie is neutered?” I confirmed that yes, he is neutered and that the vet says Laddie is neutered too. (Laddie came to us neutered.) “But what are those bumps … and stuff … down by his… down below…?”, he stammers. So, I go through and give him an anatomy lesson, much to his chagrin.

The best part? Our friend Karen was sitting in the living room as all this is going on, laughing.

I expected I would have to explain anatomy to my girls as they got older. I never thought I’d have to explain it to my husband.
