Or… Maybe It’s Just That I Don’t Care Anymore

Just a little something to make Snookie and Shirley spit their tea and coffee (respectively):

Your Score: Well-Adjusted

You scored 45 anxiety, 39 awkwardness, and 29 neuroticism!

You scored low in all categories–so there’s no need to worry! Not that you were worrying, anyway. You are so Well-Adjusted that I almost feel the need to worry for you.

Your low anxiety score implies that you are able to relax, can enjoy the here and now, and have a healthy amount of self-confidence.

Your low awkwardness score implies that you are socially capable, are personable and charming, and probably go to parties and have fun.

Your low neuroticism score implies that you don’t exhibit subtle neurotic behaviors–your nails are probably an acceptable length, your pencils aren’t covered with bite marks, and your bookcase isn’t arranged alphabetically by genre. Congrats!

It Wasn’t Bill… or Kyra

My cell phone went off during a meeting today. I don’t usually have my phone at meetings. But I was headed home right after the meeting, so I had all my gear along.

My phone–did you know it plays the William Tell Overture when it rings? (The Lone Ranger theme, to those of you of a certain age.)

Trumpet blasts and all? Oh yeah, right in the middle of a meeting with a bunch of management folk.

I dive for the phone and run out of the room. The caller hung up before I could answer.

No message, plus it was a Washington state number. Who could be calling me from WA state? I could only come up with two possibilities — Bill Gates or Kyra, a felow blogger. Neither of which have my cell phone number.

Running the number through Google, I found it was the number for the West Seattle YMCA Day Care office.

What a disappointment.

Back on the Bus

Had some SIM card issues with the new does-it-all device, so I haven’t been able to write from the bus.

The end of the semester came and went. I’m starting a new semester, and I’m really pumped. No idea why, but why fight it?

Spring is trying to arrive here. We have been trying to get John to clean off the deck so we can have the backyard living room back.

That’s it. A little dull, but that’s life.

Rolling With Rick

I’ve been hearing about “Rickrolling” for the past couple of days, but didn’t know what it was. Decided to research it a bit today after Chris said he was RickRolled three times.

I was relieved to find out it’s a harmless internet prank. You send a link to a friend, telling them it is a site of interest, but it is really a link to a very benign YouTube video by Rick Astley.

The girls were uninspired (they were hoping for an REM video). I even vaguely remember the song. Guess that makes me old.

Just a Random Thought

This thought crossed my mind as the kids cruised through the channels: wouldn’t a Monty Python version of the Teletubbies be interesting?

I can just imagine Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam running around saying “‘ello!” and doing dumb stuff. Of course Eric Idle would do the narrative, besides doing Tubbie duty. John Cleese would make a wonderful TinkyWinky. I think Ringo Starr would need to guest star as the Noo-Noo.

Damn It, I Don’t Want to Cook

It’s 5:23 pm. In about 7 minutes I’ll hear the howls: What’s for dinner?!

I am in no mood to cook. I don’t think I have anything to cook. All the good food is GONE. Can’t shop until payday. Why did I listen to my spouse and NOT stock up on spaghetti noodles. God knows, I have enough tomato sauce.

This is what happens when you don’t menu plan. This is what happens when you are too exhausted to menu plan. Grandma’s Easter Eggs won’t cut it for supper tonight.

I’m going to go pray over the freezer, and hope for a revelation. Amen.

Sunshine

On the bus for my ride home. It is so bright out and warm. Since it is March, you know it won’t last. Three days of snow coming, from what I heard this morning.

I also heard this morning that another bunch of MN National Guard troops will be deployed soon. Didn’t hear if it is Iraq or Afghanistan.

I wonder which of my current or former students will be going. I wonder how many are there now.

Five years ago, I watched the bombing. Five years ago, I wondered how long it would take. Now I wonder when we can get the hell out of Iraq.
